Documentary Film “Invented Before you were born” Directed by Jonathan Knight
Documentary Production -- “Invented Before you were born”
Two centuries ago in Russellville, Kentucky, Major Richard Bibb freed over sixty slaves, granting them assets for a new beginning as free citizens. Today, their descendants, aided by a passionate historian, unearth this legacy, which also resonates with some of the Major's white descendants. As a filmmaker unravels this aspect of his past alongside journalist Le Datta Grimes, they spotlight Michael Morrow, a figure whose life epitomizes the struggles and tenacity of the rural black community. Morrow champions a museum project in Major Bibb's home to honor the emancipated and their descendants, aiming to safeguard his neighborhood's rich history and inspire the at-risk youth he mentors, many of whom are direct descendants of the freed slaves. The community anticipates the project's potential impact and success.
